Check out our hair and beauty clinic
I am one of the regular contributors to the Daily Record's hair clinic page in the Vital section of the paper.
I answer hair-related questions from readers and it's always interesting to find out the issues that are troubling them.
My wife and co-director Anne answers questions on beauty-related topics for the same section.
HAIR ON THE HOUR
I was asked to appear on STV'S The House show do do a couple of makeovers in the last few weeks.
The first involved a lady called Brenda from Greenock who needed a makeover because her hair had lost its lustre and was missing a style.
We coloured her hair and gave her a contemporary cut which totally transformed her appearance.
Next up was trendy mum of four Kelly who'd been selected by the show's team because they asked me to recreate the Rihanna "undercut" style on her.
Aside from Rihanna, Sarah Harding (who we've looked after in the salon in the past) has gone for the look with the dramatic shaved in sides and longer, floppy layers on top.
Again an amazing makeover and everyone including Kelly seemed delighted.
We'd put up sheets on the mirrors in the salon so Kelly didn't see the outcome until the big live reveal on air!
Always good to catch up with show hostess Michelle McManus and the rest of the production team at STV's riverside HQ.

THE SHORT OF IT
Celebrity hairwatch is always great fun and Harry Potter star Emma Watson was the latest to catch the media's attention.
After having famously played the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films with her trademark long and curly hair, it came as a bit of a shock to see Emma out and about in New York sporting a drastic new pixie-style hair cut.
The 20-year-old was barely recognisable as she was snapped catching a cab in New York's West Village with friends.
Did she suit it?
I felt it was a cut too far - ie a bit too short and perhaps too masculine for her waif-like appearance.
The new style prompted the features team at the Daily Record to spotlight other celebs who've gone short in the past and asked me to rate them.
They selected such well known names as Victoria Beckham, Liv Tyler, Sharon Stone and Nicole Kidman.

TAYLOR'S ALL GOLD
We've been awarded "Gold Salon" status for our expertise in hair extensions.
The seal of approval comes from real-hair suppliers Great Lengths and is in recognition of the last eight years of work the salon has done in the extensions services.
The salon uses the cold fusion bonding system which we believe is less noticeable and causes no damage to your existing hair.
The team has also devised its own exclusive "double blend" system which greatly improves colour integration and weight distribution on the head.
The overall results have been amazingly striking and we've had many very happy clients!
GREAT NEWS ON GREAT LENGTHS

We're delighted to announce the salon has won through to the UK finals of the Great Lengths Awards which recognises the best of salons offering hair extensions services to clients.
We've worked with Great Lengths as a supplier for more than a decade and believe the product is the best in the industry.
We'll be represented at the UK Finals in London next month and all our extensionists are very excited about the awards.
Our entry in the Marketing Award focused on how we've worked with real-life clients to increase the profile of our quality work in the field of hair extensions.
Great Lengths UK managing director Philip Sharp said, "These Awards are a fantastic opportunity to raise the salons and stylists profile on both a local and national level. It positons them as leaders in their field and provides a unique opportunity to attract new Great Lengths clients who will travel many miles to track down the experts in the industry for this service.
"I am delighted with the response we have had for our first ever Great Lengths Awards, it was truly apparent that a huge amount of personal time had gone into this by many salon owners and stylists who are passionate about Great Lengths. I am proud that we have been able to offer these Awards this year as we really do now have a platform to reward the creative and commercial talents of those individuals who have made our business such a success story in the UK."
